You could call it an obsession, I have been hooking and designing rugs for nine years now. I always have a rug on my frame, I am designing my next rug before the previous one has even been completed. I am attracted to bright colours, anything tactile and of course nothing too serious.
Rug hooking was the perfect art form for me, for years I have collected fabric, and love the idea that you can make something so beautiful from wool that has had a former life. I get my inspiration from everywhere. I am up at 5:00 and I hook until my children get up for school, most mornings I go for a jog, it clears my mind. I get some of my best ideas during that time.
I live on an acreage where the scenery is ever changing, we have bunnies, deer, quail and many birds living amongst us. The artwork that my daughter and son do has also been a great inspiration. My work is constantly evolving as I experience new things and meet new people.
I feel very fortunate to be able to express myself in this way. I love sharing my work with others and hope they see in it the simple pleasures of life.
